Telling me, say she's so free...

How can you catch the sparrow?

Another adventure to Cusco is upon us. This one is a little different. An independent trip, with two companions (the lovely Kate Boring and Katherine Nelson), made possible totally through donations.

We're bringing down 300 pairs of socks and good attitudes.

For the first week, we'll be at San Martin, my home away from home. Ecstatic to see Marianela, Arturito, Manuel and Vivian. For the second week we'll be at San Juan de Dios, an orphanage for medically fragile children with disabilities. I'll also be making some home visits to kids from San Martin, and visiting a few other orphanages. Hopefully I'll be able to stop by a program center for children rescued from Sex Trafficking that works to teach them functional living skills. Cool stuff.

Staying at a fantastic hostel (I think...) in San Blas. The trade off is the giant hill to walk up for the crazy view of the city. Staying in a nicer part of town than before, that is in walking distance to the cool parts of town.

Stoked that Gigi and Nela will be around. Geraldine recently started her own nonprofit to raise money for the homeless kids in Cusco. Maybe a ploy to extend her stay, but also inspired by the kids of San Martin.

After some stellar family bonding, I'm bummed to leave home... but I know I'm heading to my second home, and the place my heart resides. I've been dreaming of my return (literally) and know this will be a desire fulfilled. Right now, I'm feeling a tad ill-prepared spiritually, but knowing that God sometimes works behind our backs to prepare the way. Hopefully I will keep aligned with my dependence on Him alone.

Much love, and besitos to all! Flight leaves at 6:50pm tonight and arrives at 8:00am in Cusco tomorrow. Lots of layovers, worth the flight price.
