I thought I'd share with you my affection for Selena Gomez. See, I am a special ed teacher. My students love all things Disney (esp. Shake It Up & Big Time Rush) and I sometimes make them mixes of their favorite jams for classroom decompression. One of my favorites is Selena Gomez's "Who Says?" ... I'm posting some lyrics below. Can you imagine though, a room full of the most precious special ed children singing, "Who says you're not perfect?" It's heart-wrenchingly beautiful. Sojourner's Cafe just induldged me with this gem, and it reminds me of why I'm going to Cuzco: to teach the city that people with autism are perfect, have value, and can touch the sky.
It's advocacy, bitches. Selena style.
"It's like a work of art
That never gets to see the light.
Keep you beneath the stars,
Won't let you touch the sky.
You've got every right
To a beautiful life.
Who says you're not perfect?
Who says you're not worth it?"
