What Fundraising Does for the Donor

I stumbled across a poignant blog post while researching the psychology of fundraising. What first struck me about this blog post was their reference to "my verse." 2 Corinthians 8:7 says, "But since you excel in everything-- in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you-- see that you also excel in this grace of giving."

This blog post suggests that donors need to give more than we need the money. They cite 3 major  reasons for this truth:

1. Giving subdues the power of money.
2. Giving blesses the giver.
3. Giving transforms lives.

The authors continue to say, "If you’re asking honestly and using funds wisely you have nothing to apologize for as a fundraiser. Indeed, it’s your duty to clearly, openly, and without apology ask people to give — not only for the sake of your organization’s needs, but for the sake of your donors."

And so, this strange life's calling which requires imploring money from others, can benefit all people. Certainly, I am blessed by your giving, children with autism in Peru are blessed by your giving, and you are blessed by your giving. I encourage you to read the full article here.

I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver. -Maya Angelou
and, as always... donate here.
