Spreadsheets and Dick Cheney

I like to blame a lot of things on the Bush administration. No Child Left Behind falls under their term-- which is awesome-- because it means I can blame my all-nighters and caffeine shakes on Dick Cheney, my favorite scapegoat.

All to say that I've been anxiously awaiting free time so that I can plan out my July trip. I've been telling myself that as soon as I have an income, I'll expand my trip to one other country each time I go. This year's goal is definitely Ecuador or Bolivia. Bolivia just had a cool autism center open up in Cochabamba, so I'm looking into that. It's also super because you can take a bus from Cuzco to La Paz (inexpensive and not too long of a ride).

I have a spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is about 30 columns across and 100 down. This spreadsheet has the date and time that I search for flights, and prices are listed according to city and route. This includes one-way tickets and round trip tickets to/ from almost every city that is even vaguely interesting to me. I made this spreadsheet so that I can track prices, see when is the best time to buy a ticket, and how much I can get it for.

I'm currently estimating airfare to be around $1500, if I am able to do what I'd like. There are some more ghetto options-- take a flight to Lima, 24 bus ride to Cuzco, then down to Bolivia and back on buses and buses to Lima. That would save me a lot of money, and kill my soul.

So, as always, the first step is airfare. $1500 or 70,000 frequent flier miles (I think).

Be thinking about how YOU can get involved with ME and my babes in Peru. I dream of them often, and cry for them bi-weekly (if I had to guess). They have my heart, and I can't wait to grab hold of it.

Lovelovelove.
